Neighbors of the homicide victim told officers they had heard screaming in the immediate area early Saturday morning, but did not call police. A concerned friend called in a missing person report on Monday.
The homicide suspect was hospitalized with injuries after the Sunday afternoon car chase from Milpitas into Fremont. Police declined to identify the 42-year-old suspect or the 35-year-old victim.
A second inmate at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas was also found unconscious in the jail bathroom, was revived and is hospitalized in stable condition. Neither man was identified by the Sheriff’s Office.
County health officials warn that extremely hot weather can result in heatstroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, sunburn, heat rash, and in some instances death.
